Rotations officer at the Fog Wardens' Garrison. Ferro Lask keeps the duty wall and conducts the rite that closes a watch nobody came back from.

On Il Conto in the year 1018 P.N., forty-five days after Maruk Grommarg entered the fog, Lask spoke the terms of the rite in the gatehouse — no Warden has relieved him, no body has been recovered, no watch may remain open forever — put two fingers beneath Maruk's brass plate, third from the bottom on the duty wall, lifted it down, and turned it face-down into the iron cabinet marked BEYOND RELIEF.

After the Dawn Breach on the bridge, with the Wardens sitting down where they had been standing, Lask walked the wreckage with a slate, counting.
