Tier: Harbor District | "First to see what the fog brings in"
Every ship that enters Venturia's harbor does so under a Tidekeeper's guidance. The Lodge sits at the end of the longest pier — a weathered building of salt-stained timber and green copper that has watched over the port for six hundred years. Inside, generations of navigational charts paper the walls. Some show currents that no longer exist. Others mark hazards that were never there.
Training lasts seven years.
Initiates learn the official knowledge first: the channels, the shoals, the way the harbor mouth behaves in different seasons. The real education comes later — in whispered lessons about the offerings that keep certain waters calm, the songs that should never be sung past the breakwater, and how to read the fog when it behaves strangely.
Senior Tidekeepers claim they can feel trouble coming before it arrives — a pressure behind the eyes, a taste of copper on the tongue.
The Lodge keeps its own counsel. When the Harbor-Lords ask about unusual vessels or strange cargo, Tidekeepers answer with technicalities about tides and drafts. They see everything that enters this port, and they've learned that some knowledge is best kept within the family.
