On the Stage
Celina is a fixture of the Amaranth — the cultural heart of the city — and a favorite of its most devoted patrons. Her name is bound up with the theater's crown jewel: the annual staging of The Tragedy of Vallombrosa during the Autumn Masquerade.
Family
Born Celina Rossetti, of the family that runs the press floor at The Burnt Quill; she took Cross as a stage name at sixteen, and it is the only name the city knows her by. She is the elder sister of Alessia Rossetti, who died at an Autumn Masquerade — the friend whose death Car has never stopped asking about. How much Celina knows of the circumstances is unclear.
The Oldest Prompt-Book
Among the properties Celina has handled in her years with the company is the Amaranth's oldest surviving prompt-book of The Tragedy of Vallombrosa — brittle, water-stained, and older than any version now staged. Its cast page lists the di Errante household differently than every modern telling: three children where the story has two, the third's role half struck-through and absent from all later revisions. Whether it records a truth, a scribal error, or an early director's invention, nobody at the theater can say — and most have never looked.
